A drink driver allegedly caused the death of a pensioner by speeding in an Audi TT on the wrong side of the road, a jury heard.
Prosecutors claim Matthew Scrimshaw, 37, of Halls Lane, Newthorpe, was driving three times the speed limit - at 90mph - when he collided with Iris Higginson's Vauxhall Corsa, leaving her dead.
Scrimshaw went on trial today at Nottingham Crown Court accused of causing her death by dangerous driving on the A608 Mansfield Road, Eastwood.

Police staff member dismissed for gross misconduct
A member of police staff has been dismissed for using discriminatory language and using police systems for non-policing purposes.
The 25-year-old, who worked in the City Division, was dismissed on October 15, 2015, it has now been announced.
The force has refused to give any other information.

Mum was searching for daughter when she was caught drink-driving
A MUM-OF-FOUR was caught drink driving because she was searching for her daughter – who was "out with some scallywags", a court heard.
Two police community support officers had seen shop manager Caroline Gibson drinking in the Moon and Stars pub, in Bulwell, on November 27.

Eastwood death by dangerous driving trial: Matthew Scrimshaw...
An Audi driver has been jailed for 12 years after a pensioner was killed in a horrific car crash.
Matthew Scrimshaw had denied causing the death of 67-year-old Iris Higginson by dangerous driving.
But he was found guilty by a jury at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday.
He was also found guilty of causing serious injury by dangerous driving to his front seat passenger Liam O'Grady.
